Simon Jones is an artist in wood. Whether creating a sculpture, cabinet or table, he infuses each of his works with a respect for the spirit that connects all life. His inspiration comes from such diverse influences as the ancient wisdom traditions, sacred geometry, zen and nature.
Many of his pieces are created from recycled timber – some salvaged from local earthquake demolition sites. He also favours eco-friendly finishing products.
In 2011, he held his first exhibition at The Red to the Black Expo in Wellington. In 2012, Christchurch was the venue for his first solo exhibition. His works have also been featured in The Press and on CTV.
Simon's pieces can be viewed at Wanaka Fine Art Gallery, 4 Helwick Street, Wanaka. Gallery is upstairs.
